Following our January Board meeting, this week’s hybrid regular meeting was called to order by President Emily. The attending members were led in the Pledge of Allegiance & the 4-way test.

The District “All Club Luncheon” is coming up in April! It’ll take the place of one of our regular meetings.
Judy was happy today: Her grandson will be visiting soon.
Gloria found a buck ‘cause Michael will depart once again to Ghana tomorrow.
Pres. Emily parted with a buck for her son, who’ll be posted in Louisiana starting on 6 January.

Club, District & R.I. News and Business:
Our $100 per member voluntary assessment becomes due during January. This donation takes the place of a fundraising event. Make your checks out to the Rotary Club of Albuquerque Sandia.
Tom Gallagher will be our program speaker on 18 January. He’ll be officially inducted as an honorary member of our Club. We’ve all waited since July for this to take place!
That PolioPlus jar made a trip around the room.
So, it looks like we’ll be having hybrid ZOOM Club meetings from now on!
We’ve received a letter of thanks from Michael, for our donation to his Theodora Ghana project.
Program speakers for the Rotary Year:
January – Cheryl February – Penny March – Pamela April – Libby May – Pat June - Judy
January member birthday anniversaries: Emily, Libby and Mollie. There was cake & singing too!
(No pin-the-tail on the donkey game because of covid restrictions!)
Since we couldn’t “get it together” for the last few years, our Club will sponsor participants in the District’s 4-Way Test essay contest 2022 with a local 8th grade class. $100 is awarded to the essay contest winner’s teacher, since the contest isn’t viable without the participation of teachers. This is a great way to discuss ethics in the classroom. Stickers, a poster, and a Four-Way Test soccer ball will be provided to participating classrooms. The winning essay from each Club is to be forwarded to the Four-Way Test Essay Contest District Chair by March 5, 2022. President Emily has forwarded a set of instructions and application to the Century 21 middle charter school.
Today’s Program:
Grants Chair Cheryl reviewed the grants our club has given over the past 12 months. Our donations have made a difference in communities near and far! We also discussed about our ways of soliciting and deciding on grants. We celebrate the good work of Rotary and our Club. Cheryl had totals of $$ donated AND there were pie charts too!
Let’s get our Club info into the N. Domingo newsletter!
There being no further Rotary business, our meeting was concluded at 1:00 PM.
