Today’s Program: Loving Thunder Therapeutic Riding, Inc. (LTTR)
Libby introduced Twuana Raupp, co-founder, executive director and lead instructor.
Therapeutic riding in Rio Rancho provides horsemanship equine assisted activities and lessons for all abilities. They specialize in Special Needs children and adults, Veterans, Foster children and Kids without disability. This is a Path Intl, Premier Accredited Center.
During 2008, Loving Thunder Therapeutic Riding was established by Mike & Twuana Raupp due to a need for a supported riding environment for their own disabled daughter. Their mission is to empower and improve the quality of life for people with mental and physical challenges through therapeutic horsemanship, equine assisted activities and educational outreach to all. LTTR currently serves 50 riders per week. LTTR is a 501(c)3 Non-profit Charity.
LTTR is a Premier Accredited Center through PATH, Intl. (Professional Assn. of Therapeutic Riding, Intl.). As of 2012, they have been the only PAC in the entire state of New Mexico. Accreditation is awarded after site visitors confirm compliance with 165 standards of care including facility care, horse care, volunteer training, records documentation, and staff certification.
LTTR has started a new life with their 7 May grand opening celebration at 1 Calle Caballo, Corrales, NM.
They’ll be running a summer program this year. We found that six week scholarships can be made available to those who can’t afford lessons… Cost $385.00.
Currently, LTTR has 10 horses for their programs.
