September is– “New Generations Month”

This week we didn’t even meet indoors (Are we orfinks?)!  Today the group met at Albuquerque’s Rotary Park (Quintana drive, NE) for a picnic luncheon. Everyone brought a pretty box lunch for auction to members and a liquid prize was given to the best box lunch. Judy even brought desserts!

President Gail sort of called our meeting to order at around 12ish.

We didn’t try to collect pin or name tag buck fines today.

Club, District & R.I. News and Business:

Today, President Gail wanted to call a vote on a permanent meeting venue.

The vote asked: A- Shall we change venues? B- If we change, shall we meet at N. Domingo Baca OR at the Good Shepherd Church?

After all the voting tabs were calculated, North Domingo Baca won with 14 votes.

Karen & Allan are away until 27 September. So, hopefully, a member or two will attend the Manzano H.S. Interact Club Wednesday meeting on 27 Sept. They meet in room K-113 at 12N to 12:30P.

Don’t forget that the day of our board of directors meetings has been changed to the first Tuesday of each month, starting on 3 October.

The Mission of Mercy (MOM) dental service mission was our September Project. Several members signed up for and worked at the 22 Sept. session which began at 11:30AM in Albuquerque.

Pat has taken lots of time & energy to set up a “Ghost Tour” 90 minute guided tour in Old Town on 28 September @ 8:00PM. Cost $18. Some of us meet for dinner- 6:00 at the St. Clair winery/restaurant just across Rio Grande from Old Town. If you didn’t let Pat know last Tuesday, you are too late for the tour and for the dinner before the tour.

30 September: Women2Be “Swap it Out” event- $50 tickets & bring some apparel accessory or décor item worth $50+ to trade. 2P-5P. Food, beverages & music provided. Pre register for tickets at their website. Event is at 834 Alameda, NW. www.women2be.org

The PolioPlus “spare change” jar made yet another trip around the room.

Today’s “Program”:   Food, Fun & Fellowship

Patrick was our Lunch Box Auctioneer today and the Club even made $164.00! The coveted bottle of liquid refreshment was won by the artistic Ms. Jan, with her “Day of the Dead” themed box. Pat glommed onto that box for a mere $20.

It was a bit cool but it didn’t rain. Thanks to Judy & Mollie for organizing this event! The members did decide that this’ll be an annual event.

Our thought for the day wasn’t presented and has yet again gone by the wayside.

There being no additional Rotary business, our gathering was concluded at 1:00 PM when the food ran out.
