December is “Family Month”

First, we set up, wrapped gifts and packed up Saranam’s bags of goodies. Then, at 12:35PM, President Gail called our regular meeting to order and led the membership in the Pledge of Allegiance & the 4-way test, followed by a moment of silence and retrospection.

There were no Visiting Rotarians or Guests present at today’s meeting.

No pin or name tag fines were collected today.

Announcements/Sad-Happy-Brag bucks:

Mary J. Glad to be back &thanks for the great goodies today. Happy that she’ll have no guests for the  coming holidays. Also thanks for a visit to Chicago & 13 family.

Mollie Put up a fiver & glad to be back. Sis is stable & thanks to Pat for her help.

Emily had a Great trip to Orlando & St. Augustine. Also thanks to our bell ringers. We picked up $1552 total, which included $1K from Jan’s friend. Great to have Mollie back, too!

Pat’s happy for her tutoring student & their pot luck dinner and for the Interact quilting.

Mary B. Visited friends & family in Wheaton, IL (NOT Chicago) then further North. Great travel & trip.

Judy Thanks for Hugs from Mollie & good to have Mary J. back.

Jan’s Going to CHICAGO this January, but not to Evanston.

Gail’s happy that we’re happy!

Maggie had a lot to say, since we have no speaker today, Still packing up after the 10 day BD party. Brother-in-Law finally going back to Tokyo.

Bruce’s happy to visit once again & reminds us of RLI on 20 January.

Where DID that $20 come from?

Sgt-at-Arms questions for today:

A packet of travel woolite was rewarded to anyone who could recite the official salutation to the New Mexico flag… It’s "I salute the flag of the State of New Mexico and the Zia symbol of perfect friendship among united cultures", So, there!

An empty autograph book did not get awarded for an answer to the following question: “What happened in 1956?” Besides the founding of the Albuquerque Petroleum Club, 1956 also marked the 250th anniversary of Albuquerque. Also, Beltrán Alfonso Osorio y Díez de Rivera, 18th Duke of Alburquerque was present and presented a gift to ABQ. What was that gift? (No takers) It was a tapestry.

Remember that we’ve lost our pancake breakfast fundraiser Applebee’s venue! Ideas on a new venue will be developed at our 2 January Club Assembly. Meanwhile, come up with some solutions and/or a new venue and make some calls.

Holiday party & “white elephant” exchange: Pat says that we all should bring finger food as usual. She’ll provide the libations. Also bring some non perishable food for donation to a food bank. The festivities will begin at 6PM on Tuesday, 19 December. Directions to Pat’s place will follow via email.

Our holiday visits to Hannett House & Villa Solano: We’ll visit both homes on Friday, 15 December at 1PM. We brought our wrapped & labeled gifts to today’s meeting. Banjo Bruce & James Morrison will provide musical accompaniment.

Villa Solano – 1419 Solano Drive, NE

Hannett House – 4720 Hannett Avenue, NE

Our 2 January Club meeting will be a Club assembly with a Foundation presentation by David. We’ll also discuss membership and a new venue for our pancake breakfast.

Our PolioPlus “spare change” jar made its usual trip about the room.

Today’s Program: SARANAM

We assembled gift bags for Saranam. President Gail will bring them to Saranam following today’s meeting.
