Today’s Program:

President Allan introduced District 5520 Governor Sunny Kellerman.

Today, DG Sunny gave us an update on the happenings in our district as well as her vision for the Rotary 2020/21 year.

Our DG spoke on several subjects, including:

“Now more than ever”, the world needs Rotary & we need each other. We’re one of humanity’s greatest hopes. Thousands have been touched by Rotary.

To date, our Club has donated over $30,000 to the Rotary International Foundation.

She told us of her introduction to Rotary, early in 1990.

Re: Membership… Consider where we need new Clubs.  We must choose members carefully and meet member needs. We were admonished to take care of our members… remember that everyone can do something! Involve everyone!

We can inspire people with Rotary, then invite them to join and get ‘em to work right away.

DG Sunny spoke of Rotary International conventions and reminded us of the upcoming convention in Taipei during June of 2021. Also, there’ll be the 2022 convention in Houston! So, let’s go!

Additionally, re: via RI Foundation, District 5520 works in Guatemala. We consider sustainability of such projects and look for more needed projects, such as consideration of the abstraction of clean water, which will change and save lives.

We must pay attention to our District’s “culture” including the five core values.

There are also three aspects of culture:  Cultural kindness, collaboration and creativity & invention.

DG Sunny also reminded us of the upcoming District 5520 conference, 8-11 April 2021 at the Las Cruces Convention center. There’ll be great speakers and events, some virtually and some in person.

We were “let in” on the new “Polio Plus Society”, where one donates $100 per year (See PDG Linda Woodward).

Finally, we were admonished as follows: “Don’t rest yet”. We’ve got stuff to do!

There being no additional Rotary business, our meeting was concluded at 1:05 PM.
